In Scotland, fire safety is covered in Technical Handbook Section 2.0 which states that life safety is the principal objective of fire safety.
The guidelines also have a section 2.15 which is a Mandatory Standard following legislation that states every building must be designed and constructed in such a way that, in the event of an outbreak of fire within the building, fire growth will be inhibited by the operation of an automatic fire suppression system.
